Episode 11: Kyrie Irving + Communication

This episode of the Grim Drive Podcast, where we explore mental health through the lens of professional sports and athletes, takes a look at Kyrie Irving + Communication.

Kyrie Irving is a wizard with the basketball, best handles of all time, in complete control with balance and precision at all times.  His image off of the court, however, tends to lack this balance, likely a result of an imbalance in both his approach to communication and the media coverage of him.

We discuss the numerous ways in which Kyrie’s approach to communication creates unnecessary problems, the imbalance in media coverage of his mistakes compared to the great things he does to help others, as well as what goes into successful communication in general.

*The Grim Drive Podcast is a way for people to learn about mental fitness, mental health, and mental illness, through the lens of sports. We want to do our part to further reduce the stigma associated with mental health by highlighting the athletes who have shown strength through vulnerability, spoken up, and spoken out.  We want to provide listeners with mental health education, to raise awareness and reduce risk, maximizing the path to mental fitness.
